Drew Parker's Choral Music Gold Series 2007

Canadian Drew Parker conducted award winning middle school, high school and community bands for 13 years before he entered the music industry. He quickly gained a fine reputation in the band literature area, combining his understanding of what works in the band room and his association with major publishers, writers and arrangers.

His GOLD SERIES and 5-day reading sessions brought hundreds of directors to Toronto each summer to put together their repertoire and curriculum for the new year.

Now with his own company here in North Carolina he is thrilled to start the process over again with a much wider group of customers through his internet site. He was a tough award-winning director and his standards in picking literature for your ensemble is just as hard-nosed.

"The next best thing to holding the baton myself is to help other directors produce great bands through great literature."

Drew welcomes your comments and questions at dparker@separkmusic.com and hopes these pieces bring you and your students great joy and success!

All Things Bright and Beautiful:
This much beloved text celebrating the scope of creation and the love of God has endeared itself to generations of composers and singers alike. Benji Harlan delivers a delightful new interpretation of these classic sentiments with a tune and arrangement that dances off the page and straight into the heart. The flute part is challenging but adds a great deal to feel and impact of the words.
Composer: Harlan
Lyricist:
Alexander

Beneath the Cross of Jesus:
The familiar text we all grew up with is given a fresh and sensitive framework within which to examine our own faith during the Lent and Easter season. Much of this is in unison and where the harmonies occur, the voice leading is such that a very small choir could manage this. A nice addition to the Lenten repertoire.
Composer: Koertz
Lyricist:
Clephane
A8697 $1.75 each
Blessed Assurance:
One of the all-time most requested hymns is lovingly presented by one of America's greatest arrangers. Robert Sterling creates an amazing variety of colors and emotions in this must-do hymn adaptation. Fanny Crosby's soaring message of assurance and promise has never been more splendidly decorated and her words of hope are just as inspiring as the day they were first written. This will require some rehearsal in parts but is well-worth the time spent. The piano accompaniment is outstanding and a wonderful showcase for a good player.

Christ is Our Brother:
This excerpt from Pepper Choplin's well received cantata We Were There includes an opening monologue from the heart of John the Beloved and is a reflection on the disciple's journey to the cross. Pepper's arrangement is inspiring and, to really feel his intent, we strongly encourage the use of the excellent Studio Trax CD in performance.
