Samuel Santiago

Samuel enjoys working with anyone to help them pursue their own personal goals as a musician.

Samuel Santiago, 22, is a first year graduate at the University of North Carolina School of the
Arts where he currently studies with David Dash. Samuel graduated with a Bachelors in Music at
the prestigious Eastman School of Music studying trumpet under James Thompson. Samuel has
an extensive performance experience having performed with the Eastman Philharmonia, and the
Eastman Wind Ensemble and has performed in the BSYO (Baltimore Symphony Youth
Orchestra), The Maryland All-State Band (First Chair for Junior and Senior Year of
HighSchool), and the All-Eastern Band in 2019. He has also performed as a soloist with the
Montgomery Symphony Orchestra playing the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto. Samuel has
performed the Stravinsky Firebird Suite with the Pershing’s Own Army Band and has competed
in multiple competitions including: the International trumpet competition (ICTUS) which he won
third place, and the Gaithersburg Arts Competition (First Prize). Currently, Samuel is a member
of Watson Brass, also known as the faculty brass quintet of UNCSA. As a trumpet instructor,
Samuel enjoys working with anyone to help them pursue their own personal goals as a musician.
He has taught students of all abilities from beginner to advanced and takes a very individualized
approach to teaching. He is very pleased to be a part of teaching at Separk as it is a great method
to create a safe and successful environment for students.
